Vivid Resourcing Ltd supports a leading international technology company in Brussels, seeking an experienced Freelance Data Engineer to join its growing Data Engineering team.

The role focuses on designing and maintaining cloud-based data infrastructure to support analytics, data products and business-critical applications, working with Python, SQL and modern cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Data Engineer, Cloud Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Good understanding of data modelling, data warehousing and data integration.
• Familiarity with data orchestration and workflow automation.
• Experience with Git and modern software engineering practices.
• Understanding of data quality, security and governance principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in an international engineering environment.

I'm currently supporting a leading international technology company that is looking for an experienced Freelance Data Engineer to join its growing Data Engineering team in Brussels.

The organisation develops innovative enterprise software solutions, helping businesses manage, govern and maximise the value of their data. Operating in an international, data-driven environment, the company continues to invest in modern cloud technologies, scalable data platforms and AI-driven solutions.

As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to the development, optimisation and maintenance of cloud-based data infrastructure, supporting business-critical applications, analytics and data products.

You will collaborate with data engineers, data architects, software developers and other technical stakeholders to build reliable, scalable and efficient data solutions.

Profile

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a strong technical background and hands-on experience with modern data technologies.

Core requirements

• Experience as a Data Engineer, Cloud Data Engineer, Data Platform Engineer or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, Azure or another major cloud platform.
• Good understanding of data modelling, data warehousing and data integration.
• Familiarity with data orchestration and workflow automation.
• Experience with Git and modern software engineering practices.
• Understanding of data quality, security and governance principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in an international engineering environment.

Nice to have

Experience with one or more of the following technologies would be considered an advantage:

• AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift or Athena.
• Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
• Snowflake, Databricks or other cloud data platforms.
• Apache Airflow, dbt, Apache Spark or PySpark.
• Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code technologies.
• Docker, Kubernetes or containerised workloads.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

You do not need experience with every technology listed above. We are open to considering candidates from different cloud and data engineering backgrounds.
