Oliver James Group is recruiting a Senior Azure Data Engineer for a Brussels-based, hybrid, freelance/long-term assignment. The role focuses on building scalable data platforms in a modern Microsoft Azure environment and contributing to enterprise-level data platforms.

You will design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and data models, collaborating with data professionals and stakeholders to deliver reliable data solutions.

Responsabilités

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Build data solutions using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks.
• Develop data transformations using Python and PySpark.
• Work with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Azure Synapse.
• Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional and technical data solutions.
• Design and optimise data models for analytical use cases.
• Monitor production pipelines, investigate issues and improve performance and reliability.
• Implement automated testing and contribute to data quality initiatives.
• Work with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code within an Azure/DevOps environment.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Analysts and business stakeholders.
• Contribute to data governance topics like metadata management, data lineage and data quality.

Are you an experienced Azure Data Engineer who enjoys building scalable data platforms and transforming complex business requirements into robust technical solutions?

For one of our clients in Brussels, we are looking for a Senior Azure Data Engineer to strengthen an established Data & Analytics team. You will work in a modern Microsoft Azure environment and contribute to the development and evolution of enterprise-level data platforms.

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Azure Data Engineer, you will be involved throughout the data lifecycle. You will:

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes


• Build data solutions using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks


• Develop data transformations using Python and PySpark


• Work with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Azure Synapse


• Analyse business requirements and translate them into functional and technical data solutions


• Design and optimise data models for analytical use cases


• Monitor production pipelines, investigate issues and improve performance and reliability


• Implement automated testing and contribute to data quality initiatives


• Work with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code within an Azure/DevOps environment


• Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Data Architects, Analysts and business stakeholders

Your profile

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on experience in:

You also have experience or knowledge of:

• ETL/ELT and data integration


• Data modelling


• CI/CD and DevOps practices


• Infrastructure as Code

• Semantic data modelling / Power BI


• Working with large-scale analytical datasets

You are comfortable discussing requirements directly with business stakeholders and can translate those requirements into maintainable and performant technical solutions.
