Qualifications

• Experience in microbiome, microbial ecology, or host–microbe research.
• Proficient in statistical analysis of complex biological and multi-omics data.
• Strong R or SAS programming skills; Python is a plus.
• Expertise in experimental design across R&D studies.
• Bioinformatics and reproducible analysis workflows.
• Ability to visualize data and translate findings into actionable insights.

I’m currently supporting an innovative biotech working at the forefront of microbiome research and looking for a freelance Biostatistician / R&D Scientist to join their team.

The role combines microbiome research, statistical analysis and biological data interpretation across laboratory and clinical studies, working closely with R&D, clinical, bioinformatics and external partners.

Key experience:

• Microbiome, microbial ecology or host–microbe research
• Statistical analysis of complex biological and multi-omics datasets
• Strong R or SAS programming skills—Python is a plus
• Experimental design and analysis across R&D studies
• Bioinformatics and reproducible analysis workflows
• Data visualisation and translating complex findings into actionable scientific insights
