Job summary

Ghent University’s Biostatistics Unit is seeking a statistician to provide statistical advice, data analysis, and guidance within clinical and epidemiological research teams. You will translate research questions into robust study designs and analysis plans, supporting grant applications and protocols.

We value expertise in regression, survival analysis, and missing data handling, with strong R skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to researchers and students.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Statistical Data Analysis or (Bio)statistics.
• Thorough knowledge of statistical methods used in medical/health research.
• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.
• Ability to explain statistical concepts clearly to researchers and students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake and advisory meetings with researchers and translate research questions into study design and analysis approach.
• Support researchers with grant applications and study protocols: sample size calculations, randomisation, SAPs.
• Perform statistical analyses for clinical/epidemiological studies (e.g., regression, survival) and report results clearly.
• Guide master’s students on statistical aspects of their dissertations.
• Work reproducibly using R, Quarto/R Markdown, version control with Git and document analysis code.
