Job summary

Miele Belux in Belgium is looking for an Accounting Officer to safeguard financial integrity within a multinational team. You will bridge financial processes, the people, and the administration, working with controllers, the shared services centre and external advisors to ensure accurate accounting.

You will support month-end/year-end closing, tax compliance and process optimization across Belgium/Luxembourg/Netherlands/France, collaborating with auditors and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, economics, or business administration.
• 8+ years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong foundation in closing periods, balance sheet ownership, statutory and tax reporting.
• Handles sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity.
• Communicates financial information clearly to colleagues, management, auditors and stakeholders.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with ownership and continuous improvement mindset.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience in multinational, multi-location matrix environments.
• Experience with SAP; proficient in Excel.
• Excellent English and Dutch/French communication skills.

What you will be doing:

The Accounting Officer plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the organization by ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with group financial policies and local regulatory requirements. The role supports effective financial management through attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to excellence. You are the first point of contact within the Belgium affiliate and the right hand of the Accounting Manager covering the cluster of Belgium/Luxembourg/Netherlands/France.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support month-end and year-end closing activities for the Belgian entity in collaboration with our global shared services (MGS) teams in Poland.
• Ensure accurate bookings, accruals, reconciliations, and allocations to cost and profit centers.
• Be a key point of contact for external and internal audit matters.
• Support tax and legal compliance processes, including VAT, and other statutory declarations.
• Evaluate internal systems, controls, and risks, and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Contribute to Belgian and global process optimization projects.
• Support the FP&A team with financial transparency, reporting, and follow-up.

You enjoy working with both numbers and practical coordination, and you are comfortable communicating with internal stakeholders as well as external service partners.

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, economics, business administration.

• A strong accounting foundation, with proven experience in closing periods, balance sheet ownership, statutory and tax reporting.
• Handles sensitive financial information with the highest level of confidentiality, integrity, and accountability while adhering to professional and organizational standards.
• Communicates financial information clearly and professionally to colleagues, management, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a passion for continuous improvement and eagerness to take ownership, contribute to harmonization of processes across the region.
• Works collaboratively across departments and builds positive relationships.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience in a multinational, multi-location matrix environment..
• Experience working with SAP is an advantage, proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch/French, both written and verbal.
