Altum Consulting is partnering with Meliore Foundation to recruit an experienced Manager of Financial Operations and Treasury. The role oversees accounting, financial control and treasury, reporting to the Finance Director, and leads a geographically distributed team across the foundation.

The ideal candidate will bring senior accounting experience, Belgian GAAP knowledge, and a proven track record in audits, cash management and policy improvement within an NGO context.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant or equivalent senior accounting experience.
• Strong leadership across financial operations, control and month-end.
• Knowledge of Belgian GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Experience leading audits and liaising with external auditors.
• Comfort with NetSuite or similar ERP.

Responsabilités

• Own monthly close process and ensure accuracy of accounting records.
• Maintain general ledger, COA and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Lead Belgian statutory accounts and regulatory/tax compliance.
• Coordinate annual audit with external auditors.
• Oversee accounts payable, payments and expense management.
• Manage treasury activities: cash positioning, deposits, FX exposures.
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts with FP&A team.
• Improve financial policies, controls, systems and processes.
• Lead and develop the Senior Accountant and Accounting & Payments Team Lead.

Altum Consulting is delighted to be partnering with Meliore Foundation in its search for an experienced Manager of Financial Operations and Treasury to lead its accounting, financial control and treasury operations.

Meliore is an international philanthropic foundation that provides operational support and re granting funding to programmes working in strategic communications and campaigns. Its work helps ensure that facts, science and objective evidence inform public debate and action on major global issues.

This is a particularly exciting time to join a foundation with secure funding as it continues to grow. Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will provide senior oversight across financial operations, treasury and control, while leading a geographically distributed team.

The Manager of Financial Operations and Treasury will be responsible for:

• Owning the monthly close process and ensuring the accuracy of Meliore's accounting records
• Maintaining the general ledger, chart of accounts and balance-sheet reconciliations
• Leading the preparation of Belgian statutory accounts and supporting regulatory and tax compliance
• Acting as the main operational contact for external auditors and coordinating the annual audit
• Overseeing accounts payable, payments and expense-management processes
• Managing treasury activities, including cash positioning, deposits, FX exposures and forward contracts
• Preparing cash-flow forecasts and working closely with the FP&A team
• Improving financial policies, controls, systems and processes
• Leading and developing the Senior Accountant and Accounting & Payments Team Lead

The position plays an integral role within Meliore's finance function and provides the operational foundation for its FP&A, grants management and strategic finance work.

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a qualified accountant, or bring equivalent senior-level accounting experience
• Have strong financial operations, financial control and month-end leadership experience
• Bring knowledge of Belgian GAAP, Belgian statutory reporting or the Belgian accounting environment
• Have experience leading audits and working with external auditorsUnderstand accounts payable, payment controls, cash management and treasury operations
• Have experience managing and developing multiple direct reports
• Be comfortable using NetSuite or a comparable ERP system
• Bring a structured, accurate and collaborative approach to financial control
• Be confident working across an international and distributed organisation

Experience within an NGO, foundation or international non-profit would be advantageous, although candidates from practice or commercial financial-control backgrounds will also be considered. Candidates who trained or worked in Belgium may be particularly well suited.
