Job summary

ShowTex Belgium is looking for a fabric cutter to plan and cut fabrics, ensuring sewing teams have materials ready on time. You will read production sheets and translate them into precise cutting instructions, and you may use hand tools or automated cutting machines.

You will verify fabric quality, minimize waste, keep stock organized, and help maintain a safe, tidy workspace. Fluent Dutch is required; English is a plus, and experience in sewing or textiles is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Diploma from at least the second stage of secondary education.
• Experience in sewing, textile or production is a plus.
• Knowledge of sewing and textile fabrication is an advantage.
• Fluent in Dutch; English is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan the cutting work so fabrics and materials are ready when the sewing team needs them.
• Read production job sheets and translate them into cutting instructions.
• Cut fabrics by hand or using an automated cutting machine, following specs.
• Minimize fabric waste and maximize material use.
• Ensure workstation has required materials and monitor supplies.
• Record production data and track where materials are stored.
• Check fabrics for colour, length, packaging and quality.
• Spot and report any issues for timely resolution.
• Collect fabric remnants and package them for storage.
• Pack separate sales orders according to transport requirements.
• Maintain cutting machines and follow guidelines.
• Help keep the workplace safe, tidy and organised.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• You plan the cutting work efficiently, so fabrics and materials are ready exactly when the sewing team needs them.
• You read production job sheets and translate them into the correct cutting instructions.
• You cut fabrics and other materials by hand or using an automated cutting machine, following the specified dimensions, quantities and quality requirements.
• You make the best possible use of each fabric and keep material waste to a minimum.
• You make sure your workstation has the materials you need and keep an eye on supplies.
• You record production data and keep track of where materials are stored.
• You check fabrics for colour, length, packaging and overall quality.
• You spot and report any issues, so they can be resolved in time.
• You collect fabric remnants from completed orders and package them correctly for storage.
• You pack separate sales orders according to the transport requirements.
• You maintain the machines you use in line with the relevant guidelines.
• You help keep the workplace safe, tidy and organised.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• You hold a diploma from at least the second stage of secondary education.
• Experience in a sewing, textile or production environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of sewing and textile fabrication is an advantage.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch.
• Knowledge of English is a plus.
