Job summary

ShowTex Belgium is seeking a fabric cutter to plan and cut fabrics, ensuring materials are ready for the sewing team and maintaining a safe, organized workspace. Based at our Burcht headquarters near Antwerp, you will translate production sheets into cutting instructions and manage supplies with a focus on quality.

You will minimise waste, ensure timely delivery for international projects, and collaborate with a diverse team. Fluency in Dutch is essential, with English considered a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma from at least the second stage of secondary education.
• Experience in sewing, textile or production is a plus.
• Fluent Dutch; English knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan cutting work so fabrics are ready when the sewing team needs them.
• Read production sheets and translate into cutting instructions.
• Cut fabrics by hand or with automated cutting machines according to specs.
• Minimise fabric waste and maximise material efficiency.
• Ensure workstation materials and supplies are available.
• Record production data and track material locations.
• Check fabrics for colour, length, packaging and quality.
• Report issues to be resolved promptly.
• Collect remnants and pack sales orders as required.
• Maintain cutting machines and keep the workspace safe.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• You plan the cutting work efficiently, so fabrics and materials are ready exactly when the sewing team needs them.
• You read production job sheets and translate them into the correct cutting instructions.
• You cut fabrics and other materials by hand or using an automated cutting machine, following the specified dimensions, quantities and quality requirements.
• You make the best possible use of each fabric and keep material waste to a minimum.
• You make sure your workstation has the materials you need and keep an eye on supplies.
• You record production data and keep track of where materials are stored.
• You check fabrics for colour, length, packaging and overall quality.
• You spot and report any issues, so they can be resolved in time.
• You collect fabric remnants from completed orders and package them correctly for storage.
• You pack separate sales orders according to the transport requirements.
• You maintain the machines you use in line with the relevant guidelines.
• You help keep the workplace safe, tidy and organised.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• You hold a diploma from at least the second stage of secondary education.
• Experience in a sewing, textile or production environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of sewing and textile fabrication is an advantage.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch.
• Knowledge of English is a plus.
