Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking an Expert AI Architect for a prominent public sector client in Brussels. You will define and monitor the target architecture for AI, ensuring coherence with the wider enterprise plan while upholding security and privacy standards.

Responsibilities include building architectures for generative AI, ML and agentic AI, establishing reference patterns for on-prem, cloud and hybrid setups, and guiding teams from PoC to production.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in solution/IT architecture within complex enterprises.
• 3+ years API, event-driven and integration patterns.
• 3+ years translating security/privacy into architecture principles.
• 1+ years with LLM and AI platform architectures incl. retrieval & model serving.
• Experience with ADRs, reference architectures & lifecycle management.
• Strong communicator; explains tech to diverse stakeholders.
• Fluent in Dutch and French; English is passive.

Our client, a prominent organization in the public sector, is looking for an Expert AI Architect to define and monitor the target architecture for artificial intelligence. The project focuses on ensuring models, agents, and data flows align coherently with the broader architecture while meeting security and privacy requirements.

• Develop and maintain the target architecture for generative AI, machine learning, and agentic AI.
• Establish reference architectures and decision patterns for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid deployments.
• Define architectural frameworks for AI Gateways, Model Context Protocols, retrieval, and model access.
• Guide delivery teams through architectural choices and transitions from proof-of-concept to production.
• Integrate privacy, least privilege, and data minimization principles by design in collaboration with security teams.
• Identify and prioritize reusable platform and integration building blocks for the internal development platform.

• 8+ years of experience in solution architecture or IT architecture within complex enterprise environments.
• 3+ years of experience with API, event-driven, and integration patterns.
• 3+ years of experience translating security and privacy requirements into practical architecture principles and guardrails.
• 1+ years of experience with LLM and AI platform architectures including retrieval, model serving, and observability.
• You possess experience with Architectural Decision Records (ADR), reference architectures, and lifecycle management.
• You're proactive in analyzing complex issues and translating them into pragmatic solutions.
• You're a strong communicator capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You are fluent in Dutch and French with passive knowledge of English.

Nice to Haves
