Job summary

Pauwels Consulting in Belgium is seeking an Expert AI Architect to define and monitor the target architecture for AI, ensuring alignment with security and privacy requirements across models, data flows, and agents.

You will lead the development of reference architectures for on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid deployments, guide teams from PoC to production, and translate ADRs into pragmatic guardrails with a strong focus on governance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in solution architecture or IT architecture within complex enterprise environments.
• 3+ years of experience with API, event-driven, and integration patterns.
• 3+ years of experience translating security and privacy requirements into architectural principles and guardrails.
• 1+ years of experience with LLM and AI platform architectures including retrieval, model serving, and observability.
• Experience with ADRs, reference architectures, and lifecycle management.
• Proactive in analyzing complex issues and translating them into pragmatic solutions.
• Strong communicator capable of explaining technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Fluent in Dutch and French with passive knowledge of English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the target architecture for generative AI, ML, and agentic AI.
• Establish reference architectures and decision patterns for on-prem, cloud, and hybrid deployments.
• Define architectural frameworks for AI Gateways, Model Context Protocols, retrieval, and model access.
• Guide delivery teams through architecture choices from proof-of-concept to production.
• Integrate privacy, least privilege, and data minimization by design in collaboration with security teams.
• Identify and prioritize reusable platform and integration building blocks for the internal development platform.
