Job summary

Bayer is seeking a Manager EU Agricultural Policy to shape public affairs in Brussels, driving policy positions for biotech, seeds and traits across the EU. You will lead engagement with EU institutions, coordinate across business units, and steer external partners to influence policy outcomes.

The role requires a Master or above and 8–10 years in public affairs with strong English and an extensive EU network. A strategic thinker with negotiation skills is essential for success.

Qualifications

• University degree (Master or above) in economy, law, political science, agronomy or equivalent.
• 8–10 years in public/governmental affairs and/or EU institutions.
• Knowledge of Crop Science business/environment and strategic comms.
• Extensive network within EU Institutions and food value chain groups.
• Experience in one EU Institution would be a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking, excellent negotiation/presentation.
• Excellent knowledge of English; other EU languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor policy developments in biotech, food systems and agricultural policy for Bayer.
• Define and develop public affairs strategies aligned with business goals.
• Lead cross-functional teams to drive policy outcomes.
• Draft policy positions, issue briefs, and analyses for portfolio.
• Collaborate with CS units to assess legislative impacts on seeds/traits.
• Position Senior Management messaging to EU policymakers.
• Coordinate with external service providers and outreach in EU MS.
• Represent Bayer in industry associations and stakeholder initiatives.
