Alstom in Charleroi is seeking a System Designer for the ETCS Level 2 Trackside Application to join the Wayside Systems team.

You will apply systems engineering, functional analysis and requirements engineering to develop RBC Core Logic and ensure traceability.

Strong English writing, collaboration across disciplines, and knowledge of railway signalling are expected; French proficiency is advantageous.

Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; interest in systems engineering and functional analysis.
Ability to translate complex functional scenarios into clear and structured system requirements.
Ability to write rigorous technical specifications in English.
Strong affinity for digital systems and understanding of software development principles.
Curiosity, autonomy and willingness to learn railway signalling and ETCS/RBC systems.
Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.

Analyze project gaps, change requests and evolution requests to identify underlying functional needs.
Develop functional scenarios and define clear, testable system requirements.
Assess functional, safety, software and operational impacts of proposed changes.
Write and maintain system specifications and technical documentation with traceability.
Collaborate with Software, Verification & Validation, Safety, Certification and Project teams.
Contribute to system design reviews and support implementation, validation and deployment.
