Job summary

Thales Belgium (Tubize site) is seeking a Digital HW Development Engineer to join 250+ colleagues known for RF products and C4ISR expertise. You will contribute to new digital hardware development, from concept to production, with a focus on digital circuits and mixed-signal implementations.

The role covers designing digital hardware, defining PCB schematics, validating prototypes, and ensuring production readiness. Strong English is required; French or Dutch is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in engineering with a specialty in electronics, telecommunications or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in digital circuit design.
• Ability to analyze customer needs and determine requirements, capacity, and cost for developing products.
• Design and test electrical/electronic products to customer and marketing specifications.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and work with digital hardware for analog/digital/mixed-signal systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products including breadboarding, circuit simulation, electronic test procedures, and lab guidance.
• Design and develop digital products from concept to production with attention to signal integrity.
• Work on digital hardware from embedded microcontrollers to FPGA-based systems.
• Define PCB schematics and guide layout engineers; validate prototypes and support production.
• Contribute to product qualification and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Digital HW Development Engineer

In our Tubize site, you will join 250+ colleagues recognized by domestic and international partners for their expertise on Radio Frequency (RF) Products, C4ISR, Crypto Global Solution, MACS (Aeronautical Intercom) and many others.

Your mission:

• You will be responsible for new-product development tasks, including breadboarding, circuit simulation, electronic test procedure documentation, and lab guidance of product testing
• You will be responsible for the design and development of digital products from concept to production. This includes analysis of customer specifications, sub-system and detailed design. As such you will create digital circuits, ensuring signal integrity and optimal performance
• You will center your activity on digital electronic systems design, ranging from simple embedded microcontrollers to high-end FPGA-based systems
• You will define the PCB schematics and guide layout engineers, validate prototypes, perform design integration and qualification, and follow up the design into production
• You will contribute to product qualification according to high-level international standards. You will also ensure the electronic designs meet industry standards and regulatory compliance.

What we are looking for:

• You hold a Master’s Degree in engineering with a specialty in electronics, telecommunications or equivalent
• You have at least 5 years of experience in digital circuit design
• You are comfortable with analyzing customer needs and determining the requirements, capacity, and cost for developing products
• You are interested in designing, developing, analyzing, and testing new and existing electrical and electronic products to specifications provided by the customer and marketing
• You are passionate about technology and willing to learn new technologies
• You design digital hardware that can be used with either analogue, digital, or mixed-signal technology.

As a strong bonus, you have:

• Knowledge of boundary scan testing
• Knowledge of reliability and design robustness analysis (MTBF and MTTF calculations, worst-case, part stress, Failure Mode analysis)
• Knowledge of signal integrity
• Problem-solving, debugging and failure analysis skills with a solid understanding of core engineering principles
• Hands‑on laboratory work including using oscilloscope, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and other test equipment
• Communication skills, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in oral and written forms across different management levels
• The ability to work in team and a taste for international contacts
• The flexibility to integrate a project at different stages
• Good command of English and fluency in French and/or Dutch.
