KBC Bank & Verzekering is seeking a data science professional to drive AI/ML initiatives and shape data-driven decision making within the organization. You will work within the Data Science team to develop solutions that impact risk, customer experience and operations.

You will lead end-to-end projects, collaborate with IT and business partners, and mentor junior data scientists while staying up to date with the latest data science and AI advancements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in a data-related field with relevant experience.
• Proficient in Python and modern data science tooling.
• Strong communication in English; Dutch/French a plus.

KBC wants to be the reference in the financial sector for all matters relating to data analytics and AI. We want to be a data-driven organisation. As a member of the Data Science team, you’re at the heart of our strategy. Together, we develop artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that transform our business. We work on them using, among others, data platforms like HDFS, Spark and AWS. You can be sure you’ll make an impact working with this team. What do we expect from you?

• You develop AI/ML solutions that transform our business. In order to roll them out successfully, you work closely with your colleagues in IT.
• You stay up to date with data science and AI.
• You help to strengthen the foundations within the KBC Group in the areas of knowledge and technology.
• You network with potential academic and commercial partners to set up partnerships.
• You lead E2E data science projects, including stakeholder management and communication and supporting junior data scientist.

Your key strengths?

• You have either a master’s degree with at least 2 years of experience in data science or a doctorate in Econometrics, Actuarial Sciences, Maths, Applied Sciences, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Physics or a similar discipline.
• You communicate fluently in English. For example, you have no problem clearly explaining an AI solution to the management team. Knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus.
• You have experience with data analytics and know how to use the more common tools for statistical analysis and machine learning and (Generative) AI.
• You have insight into learning algorithms, data-processing strategies, machine learning and natural language processing and know how to implement them in a business context.
• You’re more than able when it comes to Python and data science toolsets (pandas, scikit-learn or H2O, Hugging Face etc). Any experience you have with any of the following will be a benefit:
  • Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras)
  • Big data analyses via cloud computing (AWS of MS Azure)
  • Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kubernetes
  • Cloudera
  • Git.
