Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking a skilled data engineer to join its development team in Anderlecht. The role focuses on bridging business requirements and technical delivery, ensuring data quality, and applying DevOps principles to BI workflows.

Responsibilities include defining data definitions, building CI/CD pipelines, and maintaining ETL/ELT processes, with a strong emphasis on GDPR compliance and data security from source to report. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering, data warehousing, or business intelligence.
• 2+ years in a development team applying CI/CD and DevOps principles.
• Expert-level SQL and data modeling including Kimball, Data Vault, and SCD.
• Experience developing ETL/ELT processes and managing batch processing pipelines.
• Proficiency in Git, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab CI.
• Experience BI platforms like SAS Visual Analytics, Power BI, or Apache Superset.
• Knowledge of automated testing and data quality tools.
• Familiarity with Jira or Azure Boards for agile workflow management.
• Analytical mindset and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent in Dutch or French with good knowledge of the other language and functional English.

Responsibilities

• Translate organizational standards and business requirements into concrete functional and technical requirements for data streams.
• Define data definitions and KPIs within a semantic layer to ensure consistent calculations and reporting across the platform.
• Automate and monitor data quality rules to ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency throughout the data chain.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for data processes using version control, automated testing, and controlled release cycles.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes and a reliable publication layer for various business intelligence tools.
• Ensure compliance with information security, GDPR, and internal audit expectations from source to report.
