As a Data & AI Governance Engineer within the Lighthouse team, this role contributes to complex data and AI transformation programs and supports commercial growth. The mission is to design Data & AI governance and management capabilities tailored to client needs, translate these into technical requirements and oversee as well as execute the technical implementation.

This role suits an experienced consultant who is strong at translating business needs into tangible value, combining strategic perspective with hands-on expertise to guide clients and teams toward the next generation of data & AI governance.

What will you do
Advise on Data & AI governance tooling selection and implementation
  • Guide clients in key decisions around Data & AI governance technology selection and solution design (e.g. data catalog, lineage, data quality, metadata management, policy enforcement, AI/model governance).
  • Translate governance requirements into technical choices, define implementation patterns, and lead the delivery of fit-for-purpose solutions.
Provide architecture and governance oversight
  • Review and challenge solution designs across platforms and technologies to ensure alignment with quality, security, privacy, and governance expectations.
  • Support teams in making well-founded choices related to Data & AI governance, metadata standards, data quality, unstructured data, and master data management (MDM).
Automate and scale governance operations
  • Help evolve governance from manual processes to scalable, automated capabilities through integration and automation.
  • Configure metadata ingestion and data quality validation using APIs and workflow automation, and integrate governance tooling with data platforms and pipelines (e.g. Snowflake, Databricks).
Develop standards, methods, and playbooks
  • Capture best practices in pragmatic governance guidance such as templates, policies, control frameworks, operating models, and implementation playbooks.
  • Contribute to consistency, quality, and delivery speed across Lighthouse engagements and internal assets.
Enable decision-making with senior stakeholders
  • Act as a trusted sounding board and escalation point for executives and program leadership.
  • Synthesize inputs, surface risks and dependencies, and recommend options to support timely, well-informed decision-making.
Support engagement shaping and growth
  • Contribute to proposals and client discussions by clarifying problem statements, structuring approaches, and articulating value cases.
  • Translate client needs into well-scoped engagements and support account teams with subject-matter expertise.
Coach teams and align across practices
  • Support the growth of Lighthouse by coaching multidisciplinary teams and performing quality reviews on key deliverables.
  • Facilitate collaboration across AI, Data, IT, and business stakeholders, sharing knowledge, lessons learned, and practical ways of working.
What do you bring
  • 4 to 6 years of experience in Data & AI governance, including hands-on tooling implementation, preferably in a consulting environment. Certifications (e.g. DAMA-DMBoK, DCAM) are an asset.
  • Hands-on experience and certification with Collibra and/or other data governance platforms (e.g. Microsoft Purview, Informatica, DataHub).
  • Hands-on experience and certification with data quality tools (e.g. Collibra DQ, Soda, Great Expectations).
  • Intermediate coding skills in Python and SQL.
  • Practical experience with automation and integrations, such as metadata ingestion, quality checks via APIs, and pipelines for governance metrics.
  • Strong awareness of the impact of AI on Data & AI governance, data quality, and metadata management.
  • A proven track record of leading complex transformation initiatives, from strategy through successful delivery.
  • Experience contributing to growth activities, including proposals, client presentations, and opportunity identification.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to take ownership of strategic topics and scale them within the organization.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into clear, actionable insights for executive audiences.
  • A reward package that goes beyond salary. Think premium electric company car (BMW, Mercedes, ..., etc.) + charging card, net allowances, bonus, an iPhone with subscription, and lots of extras you can personalize with our cafeteria plan.
  • Peace of mind with full insurance coverage. We've got you covered with group and hospitalization insurance, plus optional extras like dental, eye care, and medical consultations.
  • Work in your own way. Enjoy flexible hours, hybrid working, and even the chance to work from anywhere in the world for 20 days a year.
  • We're an international community that thrives on trust and collaboration. With inclusive communities for gender, LGBTQI+, internationals, and many more, you'll truly feel like you can come as you are.
  • Your growth = our priority. You'll get training and development tailored to your job, level and even personal goals, plus support from your personal buddy and performance manager.
  • More than colleagues. From sport challenges (Antwerp 10 Miles, Brussels Marathon, 1000km for KOTK) to volunteering (river clean-ups, tree planting), we make impact together through our Together@KPMG & KPMG Foundation programs.
  • We care about you. With initiatives such as confidential counselors, an employee assistance program, hotlines and more, we will support your emotional and mental health throughout your career.
