Description du poste

Overview

Are you an experienced operational professional with a strong affinity for contract management in complex construction projects? Do you have experience with claims, variations, and negotiations in large-scale and complex projects? If so, Jan De Nul Group offers you the opportunity to take on a key role in the further development of our Contract Management team.

From innovative infrastructure projects to complex building developments, Jan De Nul Group delivers challenging projects where technical expertise, organization, and contractual control go hand in hand. Due to the increasing complexity of our project portfolio and the growing contractual challenges within our projects, we are strengthening our internal expertise in contract management.

In this role, you will be part of a specialized Contract Management team that acts as a bridge between project management, the legal department, and operational teams. You will support project teams in effectively managing contractual risks and contribute to a more structured and uniform approach to claims management, variation orders, and contractual administration.

Initially, you will be involved in the preparation of a major building project in the Hainaut/Namur region.

For this position, we are looking for a strong French‑speaking professional who will be closely integrated into the site team.

Your Role

As a Contract Manager, you will support project teams with all contractual aspects throughout the entire project lifecycle. You will translate operational and technical issues into a legal and contractual framework and help develop strategies to protect Jan De Nul Group’s interests to the greatest extent possible.

You will work closely with project management, site teams, the internal legal department, and external partners. In doing so, you will play an active role in building strong contractual files, preparing negotiations, and managing complex claims and disputes.

Within a prestigious building project in the Hainaut/Namur region, you will be responsible for contractual follow‑up and support from the preparation phase onwards. You will be fully integrated into the project team and actively support operational teams in managing contractual risks, changes, and disruptions throughout the entire duration of the project.

The position combines technical, legal, and financial insights and requires strong communication skills, analytical capabilities, and a pragmatic approach.

Your Responsibilities
  • Supporting project teams with contractual matters during project execution.
  • Preparing, analyzing, and substantiating claims, variation orders, and notices relating to disruptions or changes.
  • Developing contractual strategies in collaboration with project management and the legal department.
  • Supporting negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Building and maintaining legally substantiated project records and documentation.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely contractual communication and compliance with notification obligations.
  • Identifying contractual risks and advising site teams on possible mitigation measures.
  • Acting as the link between project teams, the internal legal department, and external lawyers in disputes or litigation.
  • Contributing to the further development, knowledge sharing, and standardization of the Contract Management team within Jan De Nul Group.
  • Supporting project teams in developing the appropriate contractual mindset during daily project execution.
  • Maintaining an active presence on the project site in the Mons region and working closely with operational site teams.
What You Need

You hold a Master's degree in Commercial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and combine a strong operational background with an affinity for contract management in complex construction projects. You understand the realities of project execution and site management and are able to translate operational challenges into contractual and strategic solutions. In addition, you have:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in complex construction, infrastructure, or Design & Build projects.
  • Experience with contract management, claims management, variation orders, and negotiations.
  • A strong affinity with construction law and contractual risk analysis.
  • A pragmatic, communicative, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent command of French, complemented by Dutch and/or English.
  • Willingness to be present on projects in Wallonia, particularly in the Mons region.
Benefits
  • Continuous professional development through the JDN Academy.
  • Our FIT program, focusing on wellbeing through physical activity, nutrition, and team activities.
  • A healthy work‑life balance with flexible working hours and occasional remote work.
  • A permanent employment contract with 42 paid vacation days (20 statutory leave days, 12 ADV/reduction-of-working-time days, and 10 public holidays).
  • An attractive salary package including a 13th-month bonus and double holiday pay, as well as:
    • Meal vouchers and eco vouchers.
    • Participation in the Flex Reward program, including bicycle leasing and car leasing with fuel card in Belgium.
    • Group insurance and hospitalization insurance.
    • Option to receive an iPhone with phone and data plan (employee contribution required).
    • Various employee discounts.
  • The opportunity to be part of a growing international family-owned company.
