Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW) in Brussels seeks a Communications Intern to support Advocacy and Communications on global health, SRHR, and gender equality. You will help draft outputs, newsletters, articles, and social content, with potential video editing and graphic design coordination.

Qualifications

  • University degree in communications, journalism, EU policy, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree is sufficient)
  • Strong editing, oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in R&I, global health, gender equality, and SRHR
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital savvy
  • Fluent oral and written English
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva and/or Adobe Suite)
  • Supportive of DSW’s mission and vision
  • Work and residence permit for Belgium
  • Previous work experience in communications/journalism
  • Knowledge of the EU context – both EU media and policy environments
  • Familiarity with email marketing tools (Mailchimp)
  • Knowledge related to poverty alleviation, development cooperation, health-, research- and gender-related policy matters
  • Video-editing skills (Adobe Premiere Pro or other video editing software)

Responsabilités

  • Supporting the development of communications outputs and social media presence on R&I, global health, gender equality, and SRHR
  • Assisting with drafting and distributing newsletters, op-eds, articles, publications and blog posts
  • Creating engaging content for social media channels (including LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Potentially video-editing of materials used as tools for advocacy
  • Supporting the coordination of design and visual assets (infographics, animated content) and liaising with external providers such as graphic designers
  • Identifying opportunities to engage with media and/or stakeholders on topics related to R&I, global health, gender equality, and women’s health
  • Proofreading and editing materials and publications
  • Media monitoring on relevant topics
  • Supporting the evaluation of the impact of communication outputs (social media campaigns, newsletters, videos, etc.) together with the Communications Officer

DSW is an international development organisation, which focuses on the health, needs, and potential of the largest youth generation in history. Our objective is to empower young people, especially young women and girls, by creating demand for and access to youth-friendly health information and services, including modern contraceptives, and by securing the right to bodily autonomy. With offices in Europe and East Africa, we achieve this through a combination of youth-oriented programmes and gender transformative advocacy that also champions global health, including investments in research and innovation to fight poverty-related and neglected diseases and to foster women’s health.

Are you a creative, detail-oriented communicator with a passion for global health, gender equality, and youth empowerment? Join our Brussels-based team and help drive impactful advocacy work across Europe and beyond!

As our Communications Intern, you’ll support both our Advocacy and Communications colleagues on topics ranging from global health research and innovation, women’s health and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) to gender equality.

Under the supervision of DSW’s Brussels office leadership, and in close coordination with theAdvocacy & Communications Officer, your responsibilities will include:

What you bring:

  • Gross monthly allowance of around €1,110
