What’s happening?

We are seeking a smart, curious and creative intern to reinforce our international Corporate Communications specialism in Brussels, Belgium. This six-month, paid internship will take place in Brussels with an anticipated start date of September/October 2026.

You will have the opportunity to work on top tier clients in various sectors, ranging from health and wellbeing, to sustainability, food and agriculture, to technology and services.

Helping our clients to communicate on business-critical issues across a range of audiences, a typical day might involve drafting copy for a report or blog, monitoring for relevant media coverage in real time, researching digital trends to develop impactful content for digital channels, or brainstorming new campaign ideas with colleagues.

An interest in communication and strong writing skills are important to the role, so we encourage you to showcase your personality in your application – writing samples or links to passion projects are extremely welcome, if available!

What you’ll be doing

While your exact client portfolio may vary over time depending on client needs and your own interests, you can expect to spend your days doing the following:

  • Work closely with account leads and senior colleagues to help develop client-ready communications materials and manage client requests in a timely manner.
  • Support the strategic development of media relations plans/campaigns across multiple integrated clients, including drafting media materials and pitches, pitching stories to journalists, maintaining targeted media contact lists, and building reporter/outlet relationships.
  • Develop written content for web, social, press and stakeholders with direction from senior team members, employing good writing principles and maintaining a baseline awareness of digital platform strategy/content trends.
  • Independently write, proofread and edit documents, ranging from long form (press releases, blogs, articles, annual reports) to short-form content creation (social media) across multiple channels.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide routine coverage reports, research compilations and insights reports.
  • Support in researching, editing and developing marketing materials and new communications proposals for potential clients.
  • Gain a well-rounded understanding of how the agency world works, including the business development process.
What we’re looking for
  • We’re looking for someone who knows the importance of a good story, and how to tell this across a range of different touchpoints and in different formats.
  • You’ll be fluent (i.e. equivalent to native-level) in English. Other language(s) are a plus - our office is at 19 languages & counting!
  • You’ll stand out if you’re an engaging writer with impeccable written and oral English communication skills and an eye for detail. You may have experience in writing, whether this is through a previous internship, writing for a student newspaper or running your own blog – wherever you’ve cut your teeth, if you have a flair for written communication and a desire to learn more, we’d love to hear from you.
  • You have a strong analytical mind and an eye for spotting trends, including opportunities for storytelling in the media and an interest in following the latest developments on digital media.
  • You are adept at juggling multiple deadlines and priorities, and have strong time management and organizational skills. You’re comfortable using online collaboration tools in a remote working environment. Above all, you’ll be proactive, dynamic and ready to learn - trust us, you will not be bored.
  • Previous experience in public relations or communications, gained within the public or private sector or another consultancy, is welcome but by no means a requirement. An interest in EU affairs, healthcare, technology or sustainability is an advantage.
What we offer
  • A comprehensive traineeship teaching you the A-Z of being a high-performing consultant
  • We offer a 6-month remunerated internship in a fun, dynamic and engaging team, where you can gain hands-on experience of everything the world of communications has to offer.
  • You’ll receive coaching from team members throughout the internship, along with in-house training sessions to cultivate your skill-set.
  • Flexible working
About the internship

The internship framework is a professional immersion (Convention Immersion Professionelle, if you’ll excuse our French) – this means you will be developed in a structured traineeship programme and equipped with all the skills to become a consultant – literally groomed for success. We pride ourselves on putting personalized development plans in place which allow us to develop our talented interns to become the consultants we seek to hire.

Please note that you should have the existing right to work in Belgium to apply – unfortunately we cannot sponsor intern/trainee visas directly through the CIP traineeship contract.

Note from the talent team:

We appreciate the time taken to apply for the role and your recent interest in Weber Shandwick. We will review all applications after the application deadline and be in touch with those who have been shortlisted to the next stage.

Unfortunately, down to volume, we are not able to get back to everyone individually so if you have not heard back from us within five working days after the application deadline, unfortunately you have not been successful on this occasion and we wish you all the best in your search.

Weber Shandwick is an Equal Opportunities Employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, and disability status.
