The Communications Division of Human Rights Watch is seeking a full-time intern in Brussels, available for six months starting September 2026. Proficiency in English and strong competency in French are required. The intern will work on media and communication projects, learn media monitoring, create social media content, liaise with the press, and organize events.

This position is ideal for university students or recent graduates passionate about international human rights. Recent graduates will receive a gross stipend of EUR 1,095 per month.

Qualifications

  • Student enrolled at a university or recent graduate, willing to commit for the full internship term.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated and reliable.
  • Strong interest in international human rights, news media and social media.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of English and French.
  • Experience in other European languages (Flemish, Swedish, Danish) is welcome.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Applicants must possess valid work authorization in Belgium for the duration of the internship.

Description du poste

The Communications Division of Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking a university student or recent graduate to intern full‑time, maximum 35 hours per week, in the Brussels office. Proficiency in English and strong competency in French is required. Ideally, the candidate will be available for six months beginning in September 2026 through March 2027.

Responsibilities

Compensation

Internship compensation varies by jurisdiction. Students currently enrolled who are completing this internship as part of their university program must provide proof of external funding and will be reimbursed for lunch and local travel costs, subject to HRW policy. Recent graduates will receive a gross stipend of EUR 1,095 per month.
