Job summary

Bank Degroof Petercam SA is strengthening its Buy-Side Dealing Desk within Global Markets, adding a Buy-Side Equity Trader. The role focuses on effective order handling, best execution, and collaboration with portfolio managers and internal teams to support alpha and efficient trade processing.

You will work with traders across asset classes, counterparties, and internal teams to optimize execution quality and trading processes in a global, multi-asset environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in economics, finance, or related field.
• CFA/FRM or similar certifications are a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Analytical, accurate, and able to work under pressure.
• Data-driven mindset; proficiency with Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute equity orders in line with investment objectives and best execution principles.
• Monitor market conditions, liquidity, and execution opportunities.
• Perform pre- and post-trade analysis including transaction cost analysis and execution reporting.
• Monitor trade life cycle processes: confirmation, allocation, and internal processing of transactions.
• Communicate market insights and execution recommendations to desk and PMs.
• Support enhancement of trading processes, data analysis, and tools.

Bank Degroof Petercam is looking to strengthen its Buy-Side Dealing Desk within Global Markets with a Buy-Side Equity Trader.
Our desk acts as a global, multi-asset execution hub for Asset Management and Wealth Management order flow in listed products. We combine trading expertise, technology, and data to deliver best execution at scale, while delivering added value on more complex orders and ensuring efficient handling of more standardized flow.

Your position

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the equity order flow is handled and executed in an effective, efficient, and controlled manner. You will collaborate continuously and closely with the other traders on the team, sharing market insights, aligning execution efforts, and contributing to a disciplined and seamless trading process. You will also work closely with portfolio managers, traders across asset classes, external counterparties, and internal teams to support best execution and smooth trade processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute equity orders in line with investment objectives, trading instructions, and best execution principles
• Monitor market conditions, liquidity, and execution opportunities
• Perform pre- and post-trade analysis, including transaction cost analysis and execution reporting, to continuously improve trading quality
• Monitor trade life cycle processes, ensuring accurate confirmation, allocation, and internal processing of transactions
• Maintain proactive and constructive communication with portfolio managers, sharing relevant market color, liquidity insights, and execution recommendations to support alpha generation
• Support the continuous enhancement of trading processes, data analysis, and execution tools.

Your profile

• Master’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field; relevant certifications such as CFA, FRM, or similar are a plus
• Relevant experience in trading or buy-side execution, with a solid understanding of financial markets, instruments, and trading platforms is a pre-requisite
• Strong communication and team skills
• Analytical, accurate, and able to work under pressure
• High standards of honesty and integrity, with the ability to maintain strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Data-driven mindset; knowledge of Python is a plus
• Fluency in English is required; Dutch and/or French is a plus
