Ayesa Digital in Belgium seeks a highly experienced Back-End Software Engineer to design, develop, and evolve scalable Java-based services in a multicultural, international team. Qualifications

• University degree and extensive professional IT experience.
• Minimum 5 years of software development experience.
• At least 5 years developing Java applications with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Minimum 3 years with Elasticsearch and Apache Kafka in distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and REST API design.

We are looking for a highly experienced Back-End Software Engineer to join international digital transformation initiatives within a multicultural environment. The selected professional will contribute to the design, development, and evolution of modern digital solutions, playing a key role in building scalable, secure, and high-performance back-end services. Working with cutting-edge technologies and best practices in software engineering, cloud computing, data management, security, and distributed architectures, the successful candidate will support mission-critical applications within a major European institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize back-end applications and services using Java and Spring-based technologies.
• Design, build, and secure RESTful APIs and web services that support mission-critical business processes.
• Implement core business logic and scalable server-side solutions ensuring performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design and manage data storage solutions, working with both relational and NoSQL databases.
• Integrate front-end components with server-side logic and distributed systems.
• Work with Elasticsearch to build and optimize search capabilities, indexing strategies, and query performance.
• Develop and maintain event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
• Apply security best practices, including authentication, authorization, input validation, secure data storage, and application monitoring.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues using monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Elastic APM, and OpenTelemetry.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests and contribute to CI/CD processes to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Work with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to support application deployment and scalability.
• Collaborate in Agile teams within an international and multicultural environment, producing technical documentation and sharing knowledge across teams.

What We Are Looking For

• University degree and extensive professional experience in IT environments.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing Java applications.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Elasticsearch, including indexing, search optimization, query design, and performance monitoring.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Apache Kafka in distributed system architectures.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and securing REST APIs and web services.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL, and experience working with NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and JWT authentication standards.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-based application environments.
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Elastic APM, or OpenTelemetry.
• Experience using Git workflows and working within Agile development environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on code quality, scalability, and performance.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multicultural team.
• English level B2 or higher. French would be considered an asset.
• AWS Certified Developer Associate, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, CKAD certification, or equivalent will be considered a plus.
