Description du poste

Weerts Supply Chain is continuing to grow and is investing in the technologies that will shape the logistics operations of the future. As part of this, we are setting up a brand-new Innovation & Automation department, dedicated to transforming supply chain and warehouse operations through technology. You will be joining a role that is currently being created: you will play a direct part in developing the processes, standards and methods for managing automation projects. You will be at the heart of our warehouses’ automation and the digitalisation of our operations, with a direct, tangible and visible impact on the ground from your very first projects.

As an Automation Project Manager, you will work closely with operations to identify opportunities for automation, evaluate relevant technologies and oversee their implementation.

You will work on solutions relating to technology, workflow automation, smart systems and the optimisation of logistics processes, with a clear objective: to turn ideas into tangible operational results.

Working alongside our Innovation & Automation Lead, operational teams and technology partners, you will contribute to strategic projects that have a direct impact on site performance.

Your goal? To play a part, starting today, in building the logistics operations of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop opportunities for automation
    • Analyse operations and logistics flows (warehouses, order picking, goods receipt, dispatch) to identify opportunities for automation.
    • Actively monitor developments in automation and robotics technologies.
    • Assess the relevance, feasibility and value-creation potential of solutions.
    • Develop business cases incorporating ROI, operational gains and risks.
    • Help define the company’s automation roadmap.
    • Select suppliers and partners suited to operational needs.
    • Lead feasibility studies, proofs of concept and on-site roll‑outs.
    • Coordinate internal and external teams working directly with operations (warehouses, field teams, integrators).
    • Monitor budgets, schedules, risks and deliverables.
    • Play an active role in go‑live events, testing and commissioning in the field.
  • Ensure operational integration
    • Support teams during the roll‑out of new solutions on‑site.
    • Measure the actual performance of deployed solutions and identify areas for improvement.
    • Promote the adoption of technologies directly amongst operational teams.
    • Contribute to the sharing of best practices and the development of in‑house expertise.
    • Ensure a measurable and rapid operational impact on logistics flows.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in industrial engineering, automation, electromechanics, mechanical engineering, logistics or equivalent.
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience in an industrial, logistics or technical environment.
  • Initial experience in project management or operational improvement.
  • Strong understanding of logistics flows and on‑site environments.
  • A keen interest in automation, robotics and new technologies.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues and develop structured business cases.
  • Business fluency in French and English. Dutch would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel within a multi‑site environment (including on‑site work and regular operational presence).
  • Pragmatic, organised and results‑oriented.
  • Curious and passionate about innovation and fieldwork.
  • Analytical with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Proactive, independent and hands‑on.
  • Equally at ease working in the operational field and liaising with technical or management contacts.
Qualities that will make a difference
  • Knowledge of AS/RS, AMR, AGV, ATLS or robotic systems.
  • Experience in a logistics, industrial or automated environment.
  • Experience working with suppliers, system integrators or automation projects.
  • A keen interest in technologies that transform operations.
What you will develop
  • Recognised expertise in automation technologies applied to logistics.
  • Significant involvement in strategic projects currently under development (building and scaling a new department).
  • Direct collaboration with operational teams, suppliers and senior management.
  • A gradual progression towards greater responsibilities within Automation & Innovation.
  • A unique experience of creating and structuring a department from the ground up.
This role is not
  • A purely theoretical or research‑oriented role.
  • A role limited to the administrative coordination of projects.
  • A role removed from operations or the front line.

You will be helping to establish a strategic function within a newly formed Innovation & Automation department, where standards, methods and ways of working are yet to be defined.

You will have a direct, tangible and measurable impact on operations from your very first projects, with real visibility on the ground and amongst the operational teams.

You will work in a unique environment that combines on‑ground experience, technology and innovation, following a ‘build & scale’ approach: laying the foundations today for tomorrow’s logistics operations, then scaling them up on a large scale.

This is a unique opportunity to play a part in a real‑world transformation, whilst developing expertise in automation, the supply chain and operational transformation.

At WSC, we value diversity in all its forms and believe that by adding differences, we multiply successes. We are committed to creating an inclusive work environment where every individual is respected, valued, and encouraged to give their best. We welcome all candidates, and all talents will be considered for this position regardless of age, origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, or socio‑economic status.
