Job summary

OneSource Consulting is seeking a Test Engineer to identify gaps in testing and shape a QA process focused on testing, reviews, and monitoring. You will manage debt testing, analyze current test coverage, and develop plans to improve coverage and efficiency within an ongoing backend project.

In a second phase, you will perform testing activities within an Agile SCRUM operation, review analyses, define and execute test cases, and coach teams in test automation.

Qualifications

• ISTQB foundation or advanced certification is a plus.
• Familiar with test management tools (e.g., Testlink).
• Experience with Jira, Confluence and test automation tools (SOAPUI, RESTassured).
• Knowledge of UML/BPMN and Java basics.
• Fluent in Dutch and French.

Responsibilities

• Identify gaps in testing and contribute to a QA process focused on testing, reviews, and monitoring.
• Phase 1: manage debt testing and analyze current test coverage, including automated tests.
• Plan to eliminate debt, improve coverage and efficiency; perform static testing of requirements.
• Check testability, propose mocks/stubs/drivers; engage stakeholders and three amigos.
• Collaborate with test automators to build automated regression suites.
• Analyze discrepancies between requirements, system, and test cases; propose improvements.
• Report progress on testing debt to management and clients.
• Phase 2: testing activities within an Agile SCRUM environment; define and execute test cases.

Job Description - Roles and Responsibilities

• For an ongoing backend project, we are looking for a test engineer to identify and solve the gaps within testing. In this way, the test engineer must work towards a QA process that focuses on testing, reviewing & monitoring.

Your tasks consist of

• In the first phase: Managing debt testing
• Perform detailed analyses of the current test coverage of the system. (Including reviewing automated tests).
• Develop a plan to eliminate the current testing debt and increase overall test coverage and efficiency.
• Static testing of functional requirements documents
• Check the testability of the system (services, batches, ...). If necessary, start an improvement process, including describe the need for mocks, stubs & drivers.
• Identifying, contacting and questioning the stakeholders/three amigos for the various items under test.
• Collaborate with the test automators to create an automated regression set.
• Uncovering, analyzing and interpreting the discrepancies found between requirements, the system and the test cases.
• Formulating proposals for improvement to functional analyses and the system.

Reporting to management and clients on progress on testing debt & undesirable behavior within the system.

Ongoing

• Coordinate the test environment to ensure the availability of the material resources needed for the test project.
• Actively work with the project manager, the test coordinator and/or the management to ensure smooth communication about the integration of the test project into the overall project and in compliance with the company's quality strategy
• Proposing and defending the chosen test strategy
• Preparation and management of test reports
• Represent the "quality" values of the Test Competency Center within the project teams
• Coaching developers in test automation
• Coaching analysts to ensure testability
• Consulting with the test competency center

Profile

• In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, tasks and processes. Having (a)ISTQB foundation or advanced certification(s) is a plus.
• Be familiar with the use of a test management tool, e.g. Testlink
• Be familiar with the use of an issue & project management tool, e.g. Jira
• Be familiar with using a content laboration tool, e.g. confluence
• Be familiar with test automation tools such as SOAPui, RESTassured, JUnit, Spring boot test, PostMan
• Basic knowledge of UML / BPMN
• Basic knowledge of Java
• SQL Basics
• Basic knowledge of git / svn
• Good relational skills
• Finally, you express yourself fluently in Dutch and French.
