As an Algorithm Engineer, you will develop the algorithms that turn optical sensor data into actionable information about objects in space. You will work on prediction, image-based detection and tracking, orbit estimation and uncertainty-aware decision logic for autonomous, on-board applications. Your work will move from mathematical models and simulation to tested software running on flight-representative hardware.
Tasks
- Design, implement and validate algorithms for object prediction, optical detection and multi-frame tracking
- Develop angles-only orbit estimation, state estimation and uncertainty propagation methods
- Build simulation and test pipelines using synthetic, laboratory and observational datasets
- Optimise algorithms for real-time execution on resource-constrained embedded hardware
- Define performance metrics, analyse results and document design decisions and interfaces
- Integrate algorithms with optical sensors and processing hardware in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Required Skills
- Master degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, physics or a related field
- Strong algorithm development skills and experience writing clear, tested and documented scientific software
- Experience with Git, software testing and collaborative development
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Experience with AI-assisted workflows and actively use and improve them
Desired Skills
- Orbital mechanics, coordinate transformations, 3D vectors and quaternions
- Kalman filtering, Bayesian estimation, computer vision or object tracking
- Rust, Python, C/C++ and deployment on embedded Linux, FPGA/SoC or similar platforms
- Interest in astronomy, spacecraft dynamics and autonomous space systems
- Junior and senior profiles can apply.
