VITO Research in Mol, Belgium, invites applications for an AI Engineer to develop and implement AI algorithms for Earth Observation, ranging from prototypes to pre-operational workflows. You will work in a multidisciplinary team with EO, GIS, computer science and engineering experts.

The ideal candidate holds an MSc in engineering, mathematics, or computer science, has strong Python skills, and hands-on experience with PyTorch and state-of-the-art AI models, including foundation models and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field (engineering, mathematics or computer science).
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch and with state-of-the-art AI models.

Responsabilités

• Develop and implement AI algorithms for Earth Observation applications, from prototypes to pre-operational workflows.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in EO, GIS, CS, and engineering to design, test and deploy AI solutions.
• Coordinate with international R&D and industrial partners and customers.
• Keep up to date with advances in AI, CV, ML and DL and apply them to EO problems.
• Develop multi-modal learning to integrate data from optical, SAR, hyperspectral, thermal, IoT and text sources.
• Contribute to project planning, progress tracking and coordination with partners and customers.
• Communicate results clearly to team members, partners and customers.
