VITO Research in Mol, Belgium, invites applications for an Edge Data Processing and Software Engineer. You will develop and implement data science and machine learning algorithms for on-board processing of remote sensing data on satellites, drones and edge platforms.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build end-to-end data processing pipelines, develop software infrastructure, and contribute to customer projects.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with data science, machine learning, image processing or scientific data processing in work/research.
• Proven track record building maintainable, testable software for embedded systems.
• Strong interest in embedded compute architectures (GPU/TPU/SoC).
• Team player with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent command of English; Dutch is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Develop and implement data science and machine learning algorithms for on-board processing of remote sensing data on satellites, drones and other resource constrained edge platforms.
• Contribute to end-to-end data processing pipelines, from sensor data acquisition and on-board processing to useful data products.
• Develop supporting software infrastructure, including data interfaces, automated testing, CI/CD, logging and deployment tooling.
• Collaborate with data science, software, hardware and remote sensing teams, and contribute to customer projects.
• Contribute to technical documentation in accordance with applicable space software standards.
