ACCA Careers in Brussels is seeking a Senior Accounting Lead to head the end-to-end accounting function for a renewable energy client. You will manage a small team (2 direct reports) and coordinate with the financial controller to ensure accurate, compliant financial reporting and timely closes.

You will oversee VAT across Belgium and Europe, liaise with auditors, and drive process improvements, automation, and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in accounting.
• Fluent in French or Dutch and English.
• Strong experience in VAT compliance and tax declarations.
• Experience with multi-country VAT registrations and compliance is a strong asset.
• Experience with Dynamics 365 is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead the accounting function and ensure compliant financial reporting.
• Own the month-end and year-end close process.
• Manage, coach, and develop the accounting team (2 direct reports).
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger.
• Lead external audits and coordinate with auditors.
• Oversee Belgian and European VAT compliance.
• Advise on accounting policies and complex transactions.
• Review reconciliations, accruals, provisions, and key journal entries.
• Improve processes, controls, and accounting procedures.
• Drive finance systems, automation, and AI initiatives.
