Job summary

YPS is seeking Casual Youth NDIS Disability Support Workers to assist young people aged 12-25 with daily living activities, community participation, and independent living skills in Port Macquarie. The role involves documenting progress and coordinating with families, schools, and professionals.

You will work Monday to Friday, with a 9am-5pm schedule, and require a valid certificate in related fields, checks, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in a relevant field.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• Working with Children Check.
• National Police Check.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module completion.
• Driver’s licence and a reliably insured vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist young people with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and developing independent living skills.
• Support young people to attend school, training, appointments, recreational activities, and community programs where required.
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, sporting, cultural, and community activities.
• Promote positive relationships and respectful interactions with participants, families, carers, schools, and other professionals.
• Complete accurate progress notes, communication records, incident reports, and other required documentation.

Casual Youth NDIS Disability Support Worker's

Key Responsibilities

• Assist young people with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and developing independent living skills.
• Support young people to attend school, training, appointments, recreational activities, and community programs where required.
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, sporting, cultural, and community activities.
• Promote positive relationships and respectful interactions with participants, families, carers, schools, and other professionals.
• Complete accurate progress notes, communication records, incident reports, and other required documentation.

Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. No personal care or medication management required.

Youth-Focused Support

• Encourage age-appropriate independence and responsibility.
• Assist with routines, time management, and organisation.
• Help young people practice practical skills such as shopping, cooking, budgeting, public transport, and household tasks.
• Adapt communication and support approaches to suit each young person’s abilities and preferences.

Youth trauma informed care practice

Must have qualifications:

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Youth Work, Community Services, or a related qualification.
