CTE – Custom Transport Equipment is a premium Australian manufacturer of heavy transport truck bodies and trailers. Based in Drouin, we design and build high-quality, custom-engineered equipment for customers who value reliability, craftsmanship, and long-term performance. We operate a busy, hands-on manufacturing yard and are looking for a dependable Yardsman to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

The Role

We are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Yardsman to join our team in Drouin. This is a broad, physical role at the heart of our manufacturing operation — covering everything from unloading deliveries and moving materials around the yard, to dogging duties and keeping the site organised and compliant. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in a well-run yard, understands the importance of OH&S, and is comfortable operating in a busy trade environment. You'll work closely with the production team and play a key role in keeping the workshop flowing smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Unloading incoming deliveries and checking goods against purchase orders
• Moving materials, components, and finished equipment across the yard using forklifts and other plant
• Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe yard at all times
• Assisting with loading of finished products and customer collections
• Supporting production team with timely movement of materials to the workshop floor
• Performing dogging duties in accordance with licence conditions and site requirements
• Selecting and inspecting lifting gear and slinging loads correctly
• Communicating clearly with crane and plant operators during lifts
• Ensuring all lifts are conducted safely and within load ratings
• Championing a safety-first culture across the yard and site

About you

• Current Forklift Licence (LF – Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck)
• Current Dogging Competency (DG)
• High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) in at least one relevant class
• Heavy Rigid (HR) truck licence
• Solid understanding of yard safety, lifting operations, and site compliance
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and reliability — the team counts on you to show up and get it done
• Previous experience in a yardsman, or similar trade-based role
• Experience working in manufacturing, construction, or transport environment
• Local to Drouin and surrounds — this is a Gippsland role for Gippsland people
