Job summary

Western Truck Group in Paget, Mackay is seeking a Yard Hand to help keep the dealership yard, workshop surrounds and facilities clean, safe and well-presented. You’ll move vehicles, assist with presentation checks, and support service, parts and sales teams as needed.

The role requires a practical, hands-on approach, a current driver’s licence, and a reliable, team-oriented attitude. HR licence is highly regarded and previous dealership or automotive exposure is a plus.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Yard Hand to join our team based in Paget, Mackay. As a Yard Hand, you’ll play an important role in keeping the dealership clean, organised, safe and ready to deliver a great customer experience. We’re looking for someone who’s reliable, practical and team focused.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain the cleanliness, safety and presentation of the dealership yard, workshop surrounds and facilities.
• Prepare, detail and move vehicles to support efficient operations and a positive customer experience.
• Assist with basic vehicle accessory fitment, presentation checks and general vehicle preparation.
• Support the service, parts and sales teams with practical day-to-day dealership tasks.
• Collect and deliver vehicles, parts and equipment safely and professionally as required.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents, maintenance needs or environmental concerns.
• Follow company procedures, safety standard and reasonable instructions from management.
• Contribute to a positive, reliable and customer-focused team culture.

Other Skills and/or Experience:

• Current and valid driver’s licence.
• Practical, hands on approach with a willingness to assist across vehicle presentation, yard duties and general dealership support.
• Good attention to detail, with pride in maintaining clean, safe and well-presented work areas.
• Able to communicate clearly and professionally with team members, customers, suppliers and visitors.
• Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively and work safely with minimal supervision.
• Reliable, flexible and willing to contribute positively to a supportive team environment.
• Experience in vehicle detailing, yard hand, automotive, transport or dealership environments desirable but not essential.
• Mechanical aptitude or confidence working around vehicles, tools and equipment desirable but not essential.
• HR Heavy Rigid licence highly regarded.
