Job summary

EML Adelaide is seeking a WPI claims specialist to help injured workers navigate the Whole Person Impairment process and secure the correct entitlements for their compensable injury.

You will analyse medical evidence, liaise with workers, employers and legal representatives, and manage claims in line with guidelines, with up to two remote days per week after training.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary studies or experience in legal, mediation or dispute resolution is advantageous.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills are essential.
  • Confident in navigating challenging conversations and negotiating outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound calls and direct queries for liability assessment.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of workers’ compensation claims.
  • Request and obtain medical evidence in line with guidelines.
  • Investigate and analyse medical information related to injuries.
  • Prepare WPI document bundles and assessment requests.
  • Determine entitlement to impairment benefits.
  • Communicate with injured workers, legal representatives and stakeholders.

In this role, you’ll use your analytical skills, attention to detail, and customer focus to help injured workers navigate the Whole Person Impairment (WPI) process and ensure they receive the correct entitlement for their compensable injury.

Working as a specialist in WPI claims, you will investigate, assess and determine impairment entitlements while providing a high level of support to workers, employers and other stakeholders.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Adelaide office, with flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week once fully trained.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage inbound and outbound calls and directing customers queries accordingly while requesting information to assist in the liability assessment process
  • Completing comprehensive reviews of workers’ compensation claims
  • Requesting and obtaining relevant medical evidence in line with the Impairment Assessment Guidelines
  • Investigating and analysing medical, allied health and factual information relating to a worker’s injury
  • Preparing WPI document bundles and assessment requests
  • Determining injured workers’ entitlement to impairment benefits
  • Communicating regularly with injured workers, legal representatives and key stakeholders
  • Managing claims in accordance with legislative requirements, guidelines and timeframes
  • Contributing to positive customer and stakeholder outcomes through proactive service and support
ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary studies or previous experience in legal, mediation or dispute resolution is advantageous
  • Previous experience in a customer-focused or professional services environment.
  • Strong customer service, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident navigating challenging conversations and negotiating outcomes.
  • A growth mindset, resilience and a collaborative approach to work.
