Job summary

seek.com.au is seeking a hands-on Workshop Supervisor to support the Business Directors, assist with day-to-day running of the workshop and ensure on-time, high-quality job completion in a mining/heavy equipment environment.

You will lead boilermakers, apprentices and labourers, manage budgets, maintain documentation, and collaborate with other departments to meet client needs. Based in the workshop, this role includes a work vehicle for site duties.

Qualifications

• Engineering Fabrication Boilermaking qualification required.
• Experience supervising a team of boilermakers, apprentices and labourers.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Budget management and admin documentation experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day running of the workshop and ensure on-time, high-quality job completion.
• Supervise and mentor boilermakers, apprentices and labourers.
• Maintain strong health and safety and customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate with other departments to meet client needs.
• Read schematic drawings and apply technical knowledge to jobs.
• Work in workshop environment based in NSW mining sector.

Job description

Supporting the Business Directors, this role will assist with day to day running of the workshop, managing job completion on time and to the highest quality standards. With an outstanding customer service focus, this role will actively work with all business departments to ensure clients needs are met.

About you

A qualification in Engineering Fabrication Boilermaking is essential

Willingness to be a ‘hands on’ supervisor and work with the team manually on jobs when required

Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably within the mining or heavy equipment industry.

Strong technical knowledge of heavy mobile earthmoving equipment, including Liebherr, CAT and Komastu excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and trucks.

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Experience working within/operating to budgets

Experience with day-to-day managing, overseeing, and supervising a team of boilermakers, apprentices and labourers.

Sound administrative skills to ensure correct documentation is accurately recorded and processed to the admin team and senior management in a timely manner.

Solid communication skills, time management and the ability to prioritise workload.

Must be computer literate to be able to support administration when required.

Previous exposure to construction, lifting, access and material handling equipment would be beneficial.

Well organised with a strong attention to detail and a high level of pride in your work quality is essential.

Positive can-do attitude and strong worth ethics towards teamwork, safety and customer satisfaction.

Demonstrated competency in reading schematic drawings

Based in a workshop environment

Previous experience working with EWP’s, Telescopic Handlers, Materials Handling Equipment will be highly regarded, however full training can be provided for the right applicant.
