Job description

Workshop Lead – 4WD Vehicle Fit-Outs & Accessories

Brendale, Brisbane | Full-Time | Monday to Friday

Lead from the front. Take ownership. Deliver quality.

Teralume Industries is seeking an experienced, hands‑on Workshop Lead to oversee our Brendale vehicle fit‑out workshop.

Specialising in premium 4WD trays, canopies, vehicle accessories and integrated 12V power systems, Teralume is focused on delivering quality products backed by professional installation and exceptional workmanship.

We are seeking someone who can lead a team, coordinate workshop production and work alongside our fitters to ensure every vehicle is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the highest standard.

This is not a position for someone who simply delegates work. We want a capable, motivated leader who takes ownership, solves problems, supports their team and sets the standard through their own workmanship and attitude.

Every vehicle leaving our workshop represents the Teralume brand. We expect our Workshop Lead to take pride in that responsibility.

About the Role

As Workshop Lead, you will be responsible for the daily coordination, quality, productivity and performance of our vehicle fit‑out workshop.

Workshop Leadership & Production
  • Lead and coordinate daily workshop operations, ensuring work is allocated effectively and builds progress to schedule.

  • Work hands‑on alongside the team installing trays, canopies, accessories and integrated 12V power systems.

  • Plan and prioritise multiple vehicle builds, managing workflow, labour allocation and workshop capacity.

  • Review upcoming jobs and confirm all parts, accessories, installation requirements and documentation are ready before work begins.

  • Monitor build progress against allocated labour hours, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.

  • Take ownership of workshop productivity, build completion and delivery deadlines.

Quality & Technical Standards
  • Set and maintain high standards of workmanship, fitment accuracy, vehicle presentation and attention to detail.

  • Conduct quality inspections and final sign‑offs before vehicles are released for customer handover.

  • Identify and resolve technical, installation and fitment issues efficiently.

  • Minimise rework through consistent installation practices, quality checks and clear communication.

  • Provide technical installation support and advice to Teralume's dealer and installer network.

  • Ensure installation procedures, technical documentation and quality standards are consistently followed.

Team Development & Accountability
  • Lead by example, maintaining a positive, productive and accountable workshop culture.

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching and practical training to improve team capability.

  • Set clear daily expectations and follow up on individual and team performance.

  • Address workmanship, efficiency and workplace conduct concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Encourage teamwork, initiative, problem‑solving and continuous improvement.

Workshop Operations & Improvement
  • Maintain a clean, organised, safe and professional workshop environment.

  • Ensure tools, equipment and workshop resources are maintained and used correctly.

  • Identify improvements to build processes, installation methods and workshop efficiency.

  • Work closely with warehouse, operations and management to coordinate parts availability, production schedules and delivery commitments.

  • Communicate build progress, potential delays and technical issues early, with practical solutions.

  • Maintain accurate job records, quality checklists and build documentation.

About You

We are looking for an experienced vehicle fitter or tradesperson who combines strong technical capability with the ability to lead people and manage workshop outcomes.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience in 4WD vehicle fit‑outs, automotive accessories, mechanical fitting, auto electrical, fabrication or vehicle body‑building.

  • Experience leading, supervising or mentoring a workshop or installation team.

  • Strong technical knowledge of tray, canopy and vehicle accessory installations.

  • Practical experience with 12V electrical systems, batteries, DC‑DC charging, inverters and integrated vehicle power systems.

  • The ability to plan jobs, manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple builds.

  • A strong focus on productivity, efficient labour utilisation and reducing rework.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and pride in delivering quality workmanship.

  • The confidence to set expectations, make decisions and hold team members accountable.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.

  • Clear communication skills and a professional, approachable leadership style.

  • A current Australian driver's licence (MR or higher highly regarded).

Experience as a mechanic, premium 4WD fit‑outs, fleet vehicle conversions, automotive electrical installations or the caravan and recreational vehicle industry will be highly regarded.

What We Offer
  • A full‑time, Monday‑to‑Friday position based in Brendale.

  • The opportunity to work with Teralume's premium XGO tray, canopy and integrated vehicle systems.

  • A hands‑on leadership position with genuine responsibility for workshop performance.

  • The opportunity to improve workshop processes, develop team capability and influence installation standards.

  • A supportive team environment focused on quality, accountability and continuous improvement.
