Nippon Sanso Australia is now looking for a Workplace Relations Specialist to fill a newly created role due to company growth. The role has been designed to provide hands-on ER/IR expertise across its Group of businesses (Coregas, Supagas and Welding businesses). This is a specialist escalation and advisory role — you’ll support HR Generalists and leaders, taking ownership of assigned ER cases employment matters, providing internal advice, and supporting overflow ER/IR matters as demand peaks.

Why join us
  • A true ER/IR specialist role with meaningful autonomy and impact
  • Exposure across multiple business units, jurisdictions and workforce dynamics
  • A leadership team that values practical, risk‑aware ER & IR outcomes for the business and its people
  • Highly successful, reputable and growing company with stable and secure employment
  • Ethical company with strong focus on culture and engagement
  • Access to annual bonuses, salary reviews, benefits and discount programs
  • Free onsite parking
What you’ll be doing

Under the support and guidance of a highly experienced Head of People in the ER/IR space:

  • Coordinate resolution to ER matters end‑to‑end processes for performance, misconduct, investigations, grievances, complaints, disputes, disciplinary procedures, absences and work capacity.
  • Provide specialist employment advice: FW Act & other legislation, NES, Awards, Enterprise Agreements and company policies.
  • Support HR Generalists and leaders with workplace relations coaching, high-quality documentation, and defensible processes.
  • Assess and escalate people & employment risks, and conduct activities required for dealing with formal ER/IR matters:
  • Build Workplace Relations learning & capability across Nippon Sanso ANZ business units: coaching, training sessions and materials, templates, toolkits, guidance notes, and standardisation of best practice approaches.
  • Identify emerging people risks and trends: recommend practical improvements to lift capability and reduce exposure, stay abreast of new and emerging regulatory and market developments, provide updates, advice and recommendations for workplace relations considerations.
  • Some travel between Yennora & Liverpool, plus infrequent interstate travel to national sites on occasion for matters requiring F2F meetings
What you’ll bring
  • 3+ years’ experience in employment relations specialist advisory, case management, and ideally some IR experience or exposure (e.g. union relations, enterprise bargaining)
  • Strong working knowledge of Fair Work Act, NES and Modern Awards
  • Demonstrated capability running complex ER casework with procedural fairness, policy alignment, risk‑assessed approaches and strong, legally defensible documentation
  • Confidence advising leaders in operational, fast-paced environments, with a pragmatic approach to risk management and investment of resources.
  • Personal attributes of sound situational judgement, calm presence, high EI, resilience, discretion and the ability to balance legal risk with commercial outcomes.
  • Strong record keeping and skills with effectively tailored written communications for various audiences and contexts.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and skill development/learning from contemporary sources
