Job summary

SCT Logistics in NSW seeks a hands-on Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator to support Sugar Operations across the Northern Rivers (Broadwater, Harwood, Condong). This on-site role partners with leaders to foster a proactive safety culture, improve risk management and ensure regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will have WHS qualifications, experience in safety roles, and the ability to travel between three sites, with strong communication and analytical skills to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
• Experience in Workplace Health & Safety roles is required.
• Understanding of National heavy vehicle regulations and chain of responsibility is preferred.
• Flexibility in working times across sites.
• Advanced computer skills (MS Office).

Responsibilities

• Promote a proactive safety culture across Sugar operations.
• Provide visible safety leadership to employees, contractors and supervisors.
• Support leaders in fulfilling WHS obligations and accountabilities.
• Encourage workforce participation in safety initiatives and hazard reporting.
• Assist with safety training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.
• Support incident, near-miss, hazard reporting and investigations.
• Facilitate risk assessments and control measure implementation.
• Assist in development and review of SWPs, SOPs and JSAs.
• Participate in audits (ISO 45001, NHVAS, HACCP).

Job Description

We're seeking a hands-on Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator to support our NSW Sugar Operations across the Northern Rivers region of NSW (Broadwater, Harwood and Condong). This is an on-site role where you'll partner with leaders and employees to promote a proactive safety culture, improve risk management practices and ensure compliance across our operations. Reporting to the NSW Sugar Contract Manager, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the required capabilities in the following areas:

• Promotinga positive and proactive safety culture throughout Sugar operations.
• Providingvisible and practical safety leadership through regular engagement with employees, contractors and supervisors.
• Supporting leaders in fulfilling their WHS obligations and accountabilities.
• Encouragingworkforce participation in safety initiatives, consultation processes and hazard reporting.
• Supporting the delivery of safety training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns.
• Supporting managers in incident, near miss, hazard reporting and investigations.
• Facilitating workplace hazard identification, risk assessments and implementation of effective control measures.
• Assisting operational teams in developing and reviewing Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Participating and assist with internal, external or customer auditing requirements (e.g. ISO 45001, NHVAS, HACCP etc).
• Ensuring compliance with relevant Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice and SCT policies.

• Ability to be flexible with working times and patterns to ensure there is consistency of practice across an organisation that runs beyond 9 – 5
• Advanced computer skills (MS Office especially)
