Job description

We’re looking for an experienced Capability & Workforce Planning Consultant to support a business undergoing a period of change and future growth. This project is all about building clarity — understanding what capability is needed, where the gaps are, and how the workforce should evolve over the coming years.

About the Project

Across the 6 months, you’ll work closely with leaders on site to build a detailed picture of the current workforce and future capability needs. You’ll spend time in the business, ask smart questions, review existing data (and identify where data simply doesn’t exist), and analyse trends such as retirement risk, turnover, industry movement and broader labour-market pressures.

Your insights will feed into a workforce plan and a Board-ready capability pack that highlights gaps, risks and priority actions. You’ll then design a leadership capability framework that supports long-term development and future-focused capability uplift.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Partnering with leaders to understand business priorities, workforce challenges and future capability needs
  • Reviewing workforce data, identifying gaps and determining what additional information is required
  • Analysing workforce trends including retirement risk, turnover, labour-market conditions and industry movement
  • Building a clear workforce plan outlining current state, future needs and recommended actions
  • Developing insights and strategies that support sustainable growth and operational readiness
  • Preparing a Board-level workforce and capability pack
  • Designing a leadership capability framework aligned to future organisational direction
What You Bring
  • Strong consulting experience in workforce planning, organisational capability or strategic HR
  • A data-driven mindset — comfortable with economics, trends, modelling and imperfect datasets
  • Ability to sit with the business, ask good questions and draw meaningful insights
  • Experience developing capability frameworks or leadership development models
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and presenting at executive/Board level
  • A practical, commercial approach with the ability to turn analysis into clear, actionable recommendations
Why This Project Matters

Your work will directly influence the organisation’s future workforce — shaping capability, identifying risks and setting the foundations for long-term leadership development and growth.
