Job summary

Kids Gourmet Food, Australia’s leading provider of nutritious meals for childcare, seeks a WHS Coordinator for a six-month contract at our manufacturing site on Sydney’s northern beaches. You will own the WHS system, lead investigations, manage workers’ compensation, and champion risk management.

Reporting to the HR Director, you’ll deliver inductions, training, and safety reporting while partnering with operations to uphold safety standards across the site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' WHS experience in manufacturing/industrial environments.
• Experience with incident investigation, risk assessment, and WHS documentation.
• Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Confident with Microsoft Office and WHS reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development and continuous improvement of WHS policies, procedures, and safe work method statements.
• Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Prepare statutory reports for regulatory authorities as required.
• Manage workers compensation claims and support RTW processes.
• Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, and site risk register maintenance.
• Deliver WHS inductions and coordinate training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Monitor legislative changes and advise management on compliance obligations.
• Prepare WHS performance reports (leading and lagging indicators).

As we continue to expand, we're looking for a proactive and experienced Work Health & Safety Coordinator to help us maintain the highest standards of safety across our manufacturing operations, ensuring our passionate team can keep doing what they do best — delivering exceptional food to children across the country.

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Work Health & Safety Coordinator to join our manufacturing operations on a 6-month contract. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you'll play a critical role in driving a culture of safety excellence — working closely with operational teams, management, and external stakeholders to ensure everyone goes home safe, every shift.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll take ownership of the WHS management system, lead incident investigations, manage workers compensation and return-to-work processes, and champion risk management and training initiatives across the site.

What You'll Be Doing

• Coordinate the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WHS policies, procedures, and safe work method statements
• Manage end-to-end incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
• Prepare and submit statutory reports to regulatory authorities as required
• Manage workers compensation claims, insurer relationships, and support the RTW process (directly or in partnership with a Rehabilitation Provider)
• Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, and job safety analyses; maintain the site risk register
• Deliver WHS inductions and coordinate training for employees, contractors, and visitors
• Monitor legislative changes and advise management on compliance obligations
• Prepare WHS performance reports (leading and lagging indicators) for management
• Promote a consultative, engaged approach to safety across all levels of the workforce

About You

• Certificate IV in WHS (minimum); a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in WHS or related discipline highly regarded
• Minimum 2 years' WHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or high-risk operational environment
• Solid working knowledge of the WHS Act 2011 (Cth) and relevant state/territory legislation
• Demonstrated experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and WHS documentation development
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
• Highly organised, systematic, and detail-focused, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines
• High integrity and sound professional judgement
• A collaborative team player who's equally comfortable working independently
• Confident with Microsoft Office and WHS reporting tools
• A positive, adaptable approach to change
