Barwon Health in Geelong is seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Safety Advisor to deliver expert OHS advice, training and support to managers, HSRs and staff. You will help develop and implement OHS strategies and promote a proactive safety culture across the organisation.

The role focuses on risk prevention, psychosocial hazards, and continuous improvement of safety policies, with a 80-hour fortnightly schedule, permanent full-time status and generous leave and salary packaging

Qualifications

• Sound working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, Regulations, Codes of Practice and relevant Australian Standards.
• Strong initiative and demonstrated experience in promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.

Responsabilités

• Assist in implementing, monitoring, and improving Barwon Health’s OHSMS to align with legislation and best practice.
• Facilitate effective consultation and communication to support employee participation in safety initiatives.
• Provide expert advice to managers, employees, and HSRs on safety and psychosocial risk matters.
• Support investigation of OHS and psychosocial incidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

About the role

This role is responsible for delivering expert OHS advice, training, and support to managers, Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs), and employees. It plays a key role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of OHS strategies, policies, and procedures, with a strong focus on risk prevention—including the identification and management of psychosocial hazards—and the promotion of a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Barwon Health’s OHSMS to ensure alignment with legislative requirements and best practice frameworks.
• Facilitate effective consultation and communication processes to support employee participation in safety initiatives and programs.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to managers, employees, and HSRs on a range of safety and psychosocial risk matters.
• Support the investigation of OHS and psychosocial-related incidents, including root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions.

What we’re looking for
