Sunnybank Rugby Union Club is seeking a casual Wok Chef to join Sunset Restaurant Team. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will craft superb Asian dishes for members and guests, with weekend and holiday availability a must.

Ideal candidates bring wok expertise, strong knife skills and food safety knowledge to a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment. You will work alongside a skilled kitchen team, maintain hygiene standards, and contribute to a lively, professional culture.

Sunnybank Rugby Union Club Ltd, proudly known as The Sunny, is a not-for-profit community club with over 45,000 members, providing our members and guests with a true “home away from home.”

We have a rare opportunity for an energetic, driven and passionate Wok Chef to join our Sunset Restaurant Team on a Casual basis.

Reporting to the Head Chef, this role would suit someone who is passionate about creating superb Asian Cuisine for our members and guests.

The position requires flexibility and availability to work weekends, public holidays, weekdays and nights.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate, skilled and energetic Wok Chefto join us as we enhance our team. The right candidate will be a specialist in wok cookery with a flair for bold, dynamic flavour.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver consistent high-quality food preparation and presentation in line with restaurant standards
• Set up, maintain and break down your workstation to kitchen guidelines
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications
• Uphold the highest standards of food safety, WHS and kitchen hygiene
• Work collaboratively with the broader kitchen team, including Head Chef and Sous Chef
• Contribute to a positive, energetic and professional kitchen culture

About You

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in a similar kitchen role
• Strong understanding of professional cooking techniques, knife skills and food safety
• The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
• A positive attitude and genuine passion for food
• Reliability across rostered shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays
• The ability to take direction and work both autonomously and as part of a team
• Club, pub or hotel (high volume) experience is highly regarded.
• Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a similar role
• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (or working toward)
• Current Food Safety Certificate
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
