Wabtec in Australia is seeking a senior WHSE Manager to lead Work Health, Safety and Environmental performance across projects and operations. The role partners with project teams to ensure compliance with legislation, company standards and client expectations, while fostering a proactive safety culture.

You will provide expert advice, coaching and support to leaders, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement across the business.

Qualifikationen

• Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Work Health and Safety or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years in WHSE leadership roles within high‑risk industries.
• Experience supporting major projects such as rail, mining, or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and best practice.
• Experience leading incident investigations using ICAM/TapRooT or similar.

• Lead WHSE strategy, systems and programs across the organisation’s projects and operations.
• Foster a positive WHSE culture through visible leadership and engagement.
• Provide expert WHSE advice to management, employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, environmental obligations and client requirements.
• Develop and maintain WHSE governance and risk management frameworks.
• Monitor legislation and industry changes for ongoing compliance.
• Drive risk assessments and critical risk control management activities.
• Oversee WHSE audits, inspections and assurance activities.
• Report WHSE performance and KPIs to leadership and stakeholders.
• Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure regulatory reporting obligations are met.
• Promote continuous improvement through data analysis and best practices.
• Collaborate with operations to integrate WHSE into planning and delivery.
• Contribute to tender submissions and client engagements from WHSE perspective.
• Develop and maintain relationships with regulators and clients.
• Mentor WHSE personnel and support succession planning.
• Represent the organisation as a WHSE subject matter expert.
