Job summary

Wabtec in Australia seeks an experienced WHSE Manager to lead safety and environmental performance across projects and operations. You will partner with leaders to ensure compliance with WHS laws, standards and client expectations while fostering a proactive safety culture.

You will provide expert guidance, drive risk management, audits, and continuous improvement, and support tender submissions and contractor management. Strong leadership and knowledge of rail/mining sectors are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Work Health and Safety or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in WHSE leadership roles within high-risk industries.
• Experience supporting major projects, construction, rail, mining, infrastructure or industrial operations.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and industry best practice.
• Experience leading incident investigations using recognised methodologies (ICAM/TapRooT).
• ISO Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification and practical auditing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the WHSE strategy, systems and programs across projects and operations.
• Promote a positive WHSE culture through leadership and engagement.
• Provide expert WHSE advice to management, employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, environmental obligations and client requirements.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve WHSE management systems and governance.
