Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a WHSE Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across projects and operations. You will ensure compliance with WHS legislation, drive a proactive safety culture, and coach leaders to embed WHSE excellence.

Lead the development of WHSE strategy, policies and governance, while managing risk, audits and regulatory reporting. Travel to sites as required and partner with project teams to integrate WHSE into planning and delivery.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Work Health and Safety or related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in WHSE leadership roles within high-risk industries.
• Experience supporting major projects, construction, rail, mining, infrastructure or industrial operations.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and industry best practice.
• Experience leading incident investigations using ICAM, TapRooT or equivalent.
• ISO Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification and practical auditing experience.
• Ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels of an organisation.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Ability to travel to operational and project sites as required.
• Rail industry experience.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
• Drug and Alcohol Testing qualification.
• Experience working within multi-site project environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of WHSE strategy, systems and programs.
• Promote a positive WHSE culture through visible leadership and engagement.
• Provide expert WHSE advice and guidance to management, employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, environmental obligations, standards and client requirements.
• Maintain and improve WHSE management systems, policies and governance frameworks.
• Monitor legislative and industry developments and ensure compliance.
• Lead risk management activities including hazard identification and risk assessments.
• Oversee WHSE audits, inspections and assurance activities.
• Monitor WHSE performance, trends and KPIs for leadership.
• Lead investigations of incidents and environmental events with corrective actions.
