Job summary

Central Queensland Indigenous Development is seeking a hands-on WHS Coordinator to lead, coordinate, and continuously improve CQID's work health and safety systems. You will engage staff, conduct inspections, provide practical solutions, coordinate safety initiatives, and support continuous improvement across the organisation.

The role requires building strong relationships, maintaining risk registers, delivering inductions and training, and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Willing to obtain a Certificate IV in WHS.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a WHS or safety role.
• Experience implementing WHS management systems and audits.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships to support a proactive safety culture.
• Coordinate WHS management system implementation and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, regs, codes of practice, and policy.
• Facilitate hazard identification and risk assessments and develop controls.
• Lead or support investigations into incidents, near misses, and hazards.
• Deliver WHS inductions, toolbox talks, and safety training.
• Maintain WHS records, registers, and reporting; monitor KPIs.
• Travel to CQID sites to provide WHS support and oversight.
