Job summary

St Luke's Anglican School in Bundaberg seeks a proactive School Officer - Compliance and Workplace Health and Safety. The role supports the School's compliance, WHS and governance framework across the whole campus, reporting to the Head of People, Culture, and Compliance.

The role is permanent with flexible part-time or full-time arrangements starting 19 January 2027, offering opportunities to lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and regulatory reporting while fostering a safety-first

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of contemporary WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and compliance frameworks.
• Experience coordinating WHS, risk and compliance systems, incident management and hazard identification.
• Knowledge of child safety, governance and organisational compliance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to prepare reports and policies.
• Organisational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and maintain records.
• Analytical/problem-solving skills to identify trends and improvements.
• Discrete, confidential handling of sensitive matters; independent and collaborative work.
• Proactive approach to risk identification and safety culture improvement.
• Commitment to the ethos and values of St Luke’s Anglican School.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain the WHS management system, inspections, risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Provide WHS advice to leaders and staff, including incident management and investigations.
• Support risk management and emergency procedures, drills and evacuations.
• Coordinate compliance reviews, audits, registers and regulatory monitoring.
• Support contractor and student work placement compliance, inductions and site assessments.
• Ensure compliance with Child Safe Standards and education regulations.
• Coordinate policy/document management, reviews and publication.
• Prepare compliance reports and governance information for leadership.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates across the School.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen WHS, compliance and governance systems.
