Job summary

Charterhouse in Rockhampton is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to partner with site teams, ensuring health, safety and environmental standards across active construction projects. You will work closely with Project Managers and supervisors to reinforce a practical, hands-on safety culture.

Ideal candidates have 2–3+ years in construction HSE, WHS qualifications and strong knowledge of Australian WHS law. The role offers permanent employment and exposure to major CQ projects.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years' experience in construction HSE.
• Qualified in HSE, WHS or related field.
• Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation.
• Experience on active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical HSE advice and support to project teams.

The Role

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, supervisors, subcontractors and the wider project team, you will play a key role in maintaining and continually improving health, safety and environmental standards across active construction projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing practical HSE advice and support to project and site teams
• Conducting regular site inspections, audits and safety observations
• Supporting the implementation of project-specific HSE management plans
• Identifying hazards and implementing effective risk controls
• Assisting with incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions
• Delivering toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings
• Monitoring subcontractor compliance with HSE requirements
• Supporting site teams with risk assessments and SWMS
• Maintaining accurate HSE documentation and records
• Promoting a proactive safety culture across projects
• Working collaboratively with site teams to achieve strong safety outcomes

About You

We are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor / Safety Advisor / WHS Advisor with:

• 2–3+ years' experience in a construction HSE role
• Relevant HSE, WHS, Occupational Health & Safety or related qualifications
• Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation and construction requirements
• Experience working on active construction sites
• Confidence engaging with Site Managers, Project Managers, subcontractors and trades
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A practical, hands‑on approach to safety
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Experience

Working for a Tier 1, Tier 2 or established commercial construction business will be highly regarded.
