Job summary

Core Talent in Sydney is seeking an organised and proactive VBS Wharf Planner to join our Transport Operations team. You will coordinate wharf bookings and container movements to ensure import collections are completed before storage charges apply, while planning export bookings in line with shipping schedules and terminal cut-offs.

You will monitor vessel arrivals, confirm terminal windows, and work with multiple teams to optimise truck utilisation and prevent storage fees.

Qualifications

• Experience in wharf planning, container transport, or a similar fast-paced operational role.
• Confident working knowledge of 1-Stop and Containerchain.
• Solid understanding of VBS bookings, import availability, wharf storage deadlines, and export cut-offs.
• Strong planning, organisation, time management, and prioritisation skills.
• Clear communication skills with a strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn OneTrack.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate import planning by monitoring vessel arrivals, container availability, free storage periods, and last free days to support timely collections and customer deliveries.
• Book export movements, confirm terminal receival windows and vessel cut-offs, and ensure containers are slotted and ready in the yard on time.
• Work with transport allocators, the yard team, Customer Service, and Export Department to optimise truck utilisation and resolve access issues.
• Manage bookings and container movements using 1-Stop and Containerchain, and maintain accurate records within OneTrack.
• Monitor outstanding movements, track collection statuses, and escalate any containers at risk of missing cut-offs or incurring storage fees.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating wharf bookings and container movements to ensure all import collections are completed before storage charges apply, while seamlessly planning export bookings in line with shipping schedules and terminal cut-offs.

Key Responsibilities

• Import Planning: Monitor vessel arrivals, container availability, free storage periods, and last free days to coordinate timely collections and support customer deliveries.
• Export Management: Book export movements, confirm terminal receival windows and vessel cut-offs, and ensure containers are slotted and ready in the yard on time.
• Operational Coordination: Work closely with transport allocators, the yard team, Customer Service, and the Export Department to optimize truck utilization and resolve access issues.
• Systems & Administration: Manage bookings and container movements using 1-Stop and Containerchain, and maintain accurate records within OneTrack (full system training provided).
• Risk Management: Monitor outstanding movements, track collection statuses, and promptly escalation any containers at risk of missing cut-offs or incurring storage fees.
