Job summary

Austruss Pty Ltd in Braemar, NSW, is seeking skilled Welder/Boilermaker/Fabricators to join on a full-time basis. This hands-on role focuses on welding, boilermaking and fabrication to produce high-quality metal structures for schools and aged care facilities across NSW.

You will work with quality equipment, read technical drawings, ensure safety and 6S standards, and collaborate to deliver projects on time and to spec.

Qualifications

• Formal welding, boilermaking or fabrication qualification, or actively completing an apprenticeship.
• Proven hands-on welding experience, 1–2+ years preferred.
• Ability to read technical drawings and interpret specifications.
• Knowledge of WHS standards for welding and fabrication.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding operations using various welding techniques to join metal components securely.
• Fabricate and assemble customized structural components and standardised metal structures according to drawings.
• Conduct quality inspections of welded joints and fabricated components to ensure standards.
• Prepare materials and work areas, including cutting, grinding and shaping metal as required.
• Maintain and operate welding and fabrication equipment in a safe and efficient manner to 6S standards.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and work orders to understand project requirements.
• Follow all WHS procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment to 6S standards.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification.
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.

About the role

Austruss is seeking skilled Welder/Boilermaker/Fabricators to join our team on a full-time basis at our facility in Braemar, in the sSouthern Highlands. This is a hands-on role that will see you utilising your expertise in welding, boilermaking and fabrication to produce high-quality metal structures and components. You will play a crucial part in delivering precision work that meets our clients' specifications and industry standards, contributing directly to our reputation for excellence in the construction sector - predominately for schools and aged care facilities accross NSW.

• Prepare materials and work areas, including cutting, grinding and shaping metal as required
• Maintain and operate welding and fabrication equipment in a safe and efficient manner to 6S standards
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and work orders to understand project requirements
• Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised work environment to 6S standards
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification
• Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance

What we're looking for

• Formal qualifications or certification in welding, boilermaking or fabrication work or a current ongoing commitment to complete an apprenticeship
• OR - Proven experience as a welder, boilermaker or fabricator, ideally with 1 -2+ years in a similar role
• Strong proficiency in multiple welding techniques
• Experience with boiler fabrication, pressure vessels or structural steelwork
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards relevant to welding and fabrication
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Physical fitness and ability to work in varied conditions, including standing for extended periods
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
