Job summary

Programmed in Scoresby, VIC seeks an experienced Welder/Boilermaker/Fabricator for a permanent, full-time role. You will weld, fabricate, read engineering drawings and operate related machinery on a practical shop floor with a ~50-strong onsite team, Monday–Friday. The roster offers a stable, hands-on manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes MIG/TIG welding and oxy cutting, quality control, and safe work practices. Trade qualifications are preferred, with TIG experience highly regarded.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in welding (Welder/Boilermaker/Fabricator) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated MIG welding and oxy cutting experience.
• TIG welding is highly regarded.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience in fabrication, fitting, grinding and finishing.
• Strong commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding and fabrication across a range of products and equipment.
• Complete fillet and butt welds to required quality standards.
• Set up welding machines, jigs and fixtures and prepare materials for fabrication.
• Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings.
• Carry out fitting, grinding and finishing tasks.
• Undertake oxy cutting and other cutting tasks as required.
• Conduct weld testing and ensure welds meet required standards.
• Use overhead cranes, power tools and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Work with mild and stainless steel, generally 3–5mm thick, with occasional material up to 12mm.
• Complete work in accordance with quality, safety and standard work requirements.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of work undertaken.
• Work independently while contributing positively to the wider production team.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and the quality of your own work.
• A strong commitment to producing quality outcomes.

Location: Scoresby, VIC
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Roster: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–4:00pm, with every second Friday off — 9-day fortnight

Our client is a leading provider of municipal vehicles and specialist equipment, including refuse trucks, sweepers, vacuum/jetting units, bulk waste equipment and static compactors.

You will be joining a team of approximately50 people onsite, including around 12 office-based employees and 36–38 employees across production, including Welders, Fabricators and Assemblers.

The role offers the opportunity to work in a practical, hands-on manufacturing environment with a stable team and a consistent Monday–Friday roster.

Key Responsibilities

Perform MIG and TIG welding and fabrication across a range of products and equipment.

About You

The ideal candidate will be aWelder, Boilermaker or Fabricatorwith experience in a heavy manufacturing, automotive, truck, structural steel or similar environment.

You will ideally have:

A trade qualification as a Welder, Boilermaker, Fabricator or similar.

Demonstrated experience withMIG weldingand oxy cutting.

TIG welding experience is highly regarded.

Experience working in theautomotive or truck industryis highly desirable.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Experience with fabrication, fitting, grinding and finishing.

Strong understanding of quality and safety requirements.

Ability to follow standard work practices and procedures.

Ability to work independently and without constant supervision.

A strong commitment to producing quality outcomes.

A formal welding qualification is preferred, butfull qualification is not essential for the right candidate
