Job summary

BlueCare in Gympie is seeking a Weekend Cook to deliver resident-centred dining experiences in our aged care facility. You will prepare, cook and present meals that meet dietary requirements and organisational standards, working with the Home Services Lead and Chef to ensure meals are enjoyable and served at the right temperature.

You’ll maintain a clean, safe work environment, follow procedures, and support residents with meals while collaborating with the kitchen team.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience).
• Food safety knowledge and safe food handling practices.
• Understanding of IDDSI, allergens and culturally appropriate diets.
• Ability to work in a team and follow direction.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to resident-centred care.
• Basic computer and documentation skills.
• Experience in aged care or healthcare food service is highly regarded.
• Capable of passing probity checks.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with corporate menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure all meals meet IDDSI, allergen, cultural and texture-modified needs.
• Deliver meals that are well-presented, appetising and served at the correct temperature.
• Support food preparation, portioning, plating and kitchen operations.
• Follow safe food handling, hygiene and infection control standards.
• Complete documentation including temperature checks, cleaning logs and production records.
